Risk & Controls Analyst (6-month FTC)

Mars Recruitment is partnering with a leading corporate institutional bank in Sydney to find an experienced Operational Risk & Controls Analyst to join a high-performing Risk team. Working closely with senior risk leaders, you will play a key role in supporting the operational risk framework, internal controls, audit management, regulatory compliance and business-wide risk initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the operational risk management framework.
  • Assist with the coordination of internal and external audits, reviews and regulatory assessments.
  • Monitor operational risk matters and support remediation activities arising from audit findings and control reviews.
  • Prepare risk reports, analysis and management information for senior stakeholders and risk committees.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of business-wide projects relating to risk, controls and governance.
  • Conduct control testing, risk assessments and targeted reviews across business functions.
  • Support the maintenance and communication of policies, procedures and Head Office requirements.
  • Build strong relationships across the business to promote effective risk management and control practices.
  • Contribute to regulatory compliance activities, including alignment with APRA prudential standards and expectations.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve operational risk processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience within Operational Risk, Risk & Compliance, Internal Audit, Controls Assurance, Risk Governance or a related function within banking.
  • Understanding of operational risk frameworks, controls, governance and audit processes.
  • Knowledge of Australian banking regulations and APRA prudential standards.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong written skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports for senior management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business, Commerce, Risk Management, Accounting or a related discipline preferred.
