Mars Recruitment is looking for a Governance professional, specialising in Privacy to join a leading utilities organisation permanently. You'll play a key role in providing advice on privacy law compliance, FIRB conditions, and supporting internal governance functions. This is a hands-on position, balancing advisory responsibilities with governance processes and committee support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal and strategic advice on privacy and FIRB Condition compliance

• Conduct and review Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)

• Stay informed of legal and policy changes affecting the business

• Support information governance and privacy-by-design initiatives

• Perform committee secretarial duties, maintain registers, and prepare reports

• Assist in training and developing governance frameworks and policies

• Contribute to a strong compliance and risk culture across the business

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years' experience as a solicitor (in-house or private practice)

• Proven experience in privacy law, legal advisory, or data governance

• Strong understanding of the Australian Privacy Principles and PIA requirements

• Skilled at interpreting legislation and delivering practical legal advice

• Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills

• Experience with minute taking and complaint handling

• Collaborative mindset with a high standard of responsiveness and professionalism

• Experience supporting Privacy Officers or Risk Officers

• Background in developing governance or compliance systems

• Familiarity with corporate governance best practices

• Ability to identify and advise on business risk
