Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Newcastle

Paediatric OT | Newcastle | Flexible FT/PT | No unrealistic KPIs | Strong mentoring | Play-based therapy | Supportive multidisciplinary team

Occupational Therapist | Paediatrics | Newcastle

Newcastle, NSW | Full-time or Part-time | New Graduate to Experienced

Are you an Occupational Therapist who wants to do meaningful work without feeling like you're constantly chasing KPIs?

Maybe you're looking for more time to build genuine relationships with children and families, more clinical support, or simply a workplace where you can enjoy being an OT again.

MARS Healthcare is partnering with a family-owned and operated allied health organisation in Newcastle that is doing things differently. Their philosophy is centred around relationships, play with purpose and helping children and families build greater independence, with clinicians given the time, support and autonomy to deliver quality therapy.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Occupational Therapist, from New Graduate through to experienced clinician, to join a growing multidisciplinary team.

You'll work with children, teenagers and young adults across a range of developmental, behavioural and learning needs, with therapy delivered across clinic, home, school and community environments.
You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver play-based, developmental and evidence-informed therapy
  • Support children with regulation, fine and gross motor skills, self-care, attention, school participation, social interaction and independence
  • Work alongside Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Allied Health Assistants and other clinicians
  • Build genuine relationships with children and their families
  • Work across clinic, home, school and community settings
  • Develop therapy goals that translate into real-world outcomes, not just clinic-based progress
  • Explore transdisciplinary approaches and learn from clinicians across different disciplines

Why Join?

This organisation understands that great therapy starts with supported clinicians.
You'll receive:

  • No unrealistic KPIs
  • Sustainable caseloads focused on quality outcomes
  • Full-time, part-time or flexible hours
  • Discipline-specific clinical supervision
  • Individual clinical mentoring
  • Regular multidisciplinary professional development
  • Support to pursue discipline-specific CPD and individual areas of interest
  • Opportunities to work alongside experienced clinicians and specialists
  • A genuinely collaborative team where knowledge and ideas are shared
  • Regular team connection and social activities
  • Career development opportunities as the organisation continues to grow
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Sign-on bonus available for the right candidate
  • Employee referral bonus program

The Clinical Approach

The focus is on helping children develop the foundational skills they need to participate in everyday life.
Rather than simply working on isolated clinical goals, therapists look at the bigger picture - helping children build skills that translate into school, social interaction, community participation and independence.
There are also opportunities to be involved in specialised programs, assessments, therapy intensives, social programs and transdisciplinary therapy.

About You

We're looking for an Occupational Therapist who:

  • Holds a relevant Occupational Therapy qualification
  • Is eligible for AHPRA registration
  • Has a genuine passion for working with children and families
  • Is interested in play-based and relationship-driven therapy
  • Values collaboration and multidisciplinary practice
  • Brings warmth, creativity and curiosity to their work
  • Wants to continue developing their clinical skills

New graduates are encouraged to apply, with structured supervision, mentoring and professional development available to support you as you start your career.

If you're an OT who wants to slow down, build relationships and have the space to deliver therapy properly, this could be a very different kind of opportunity.
