Job Title: Social Worker - Temporary Position on Thursday Island
Location: Thursday Island, Torres Strait, Queensland
Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary (28th April - 13th June)

About the Role:
Are you a compassionate and dedicated social worker looking for a unique opportunity to make a real difference? We are seeking a qualified social worker to join our clients team on Thursday Island for a temporary assignment from 28th April to 13th June. This role offers the chance to work in a vibrant community, providing essential support to individuals and families navigating various challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Client Support: Assist clients dealing with major health crises, family dynamics, child protection concerns, domestic abuse, trauma, housing instability, disabilities, mental health issues, and substance dependencies.
• Counselling Services: Provide counselling and emotional support to patients and their families during times of crisis, distress, or significant change.
• Assessment and Planning: Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify clients' needs and develop tailored intervention plans.
• Community Liaison: Collaborate with local organisations and community resources to ensure clients have access to comprehensive support services.
• Advocacy: Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the healthcare system and the broader community.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work essential
• Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Demonstrated experience in providing social work services in a healthcare or community setting essential- 1 year post grad experience at a minimum
• Strong understanding of the social and cultural issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
