The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Senior Speech Pathologist (HP4) to join a regional hospital team in beautiful Far North Queensland on a locum contract through to Christmas 2026.

This position is predominantly focused on paediatric outpatients, making it a fantastic opportunity for a Speech Pathologist with strong paediatric experience looking for their next regional locum.

You'll be joining an established Speech Pathology service, working alongside an HP3 Speech Pathologist who manages the majority of the adult inpatient caseload.

The caseload predominantly includes:

• Paediatric outpatients - Assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children presenting with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.
• Managing a predominantly paediatric outpatient caseload within a regional hospital setting.
• Providing occasional support with adult general Speech Pathology caseloads as required.
• Working collaboratively with the on-site HP3 Speech Pathologist and wider multidisciplinary team.
• Delivering evidence-based assessment, treatment and ongoing care.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who is confident managing a paediatric caseload and can work independently within a regional healthcare setting.

You'll require:

• Relevant Speech Pathology qualification
• Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
• Strong paediatric clinical experience - essential
• General adult Speech Pathology experience - advantageous
• Ability to manage a caseload independently
• Australian working rights
• Experience working at a senior level, ideally within a hospital or public health setting
