Mars Recruitment are partnering with a fast-growing funds management business to find a talented Legal Counsel to deliver practical, commercially-minded legal support across the organisation.This is an exciting chance to work across multiple business areas, collaborating closely with internal teams as well as external advisors, regulators, and service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clear, commercially focused legal guidance across the business, supporting both existing products and new initiatives.
Keep abreast of legal, regulatory, and legislative changes, providing timely advice on their impact domestically and internationally.
Support fund establishment, closure, disclosure, and ongoing operations, including reviewing constitutions, trust deeds, and product disclosure documentation.
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal agreements, including investment management, distribution, vendor, custody, and confidentiality contracts.
Identify and mitigate legal risks through policy development and proactive advice on emerging legal issues.
Act as the main point of contact for regulators, external counsel, auditors, and other service providers.
Assist with company secretarial duties, including document preparation and maintaining corporate records.
Develop, revise, and maintain internal policies to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Requirements:
Qualified lawyer with ideally 3 + PQE, preferably in financial services or funds management law.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks applicable to funds management and financial products.
Proven ability to deliver practical legal advice in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to engage effectively with multiple teams and external stakeholders.
