Mars Recruitment is partnering with a high-growth fintech organisation is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team. Reporting to a Senior Legal Counsel, this role offers broad exposure to regulatory, commercial, and governance matters within a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
Provide legal and compliance advice across the business, including ad-hoc queries, policy and procedure drafting, complaints and dispute management, and review of marketing and promotional materials
Advise on the legal and regulatory implications of new products, services, and features, delivering pragmatic and customer-focused solutions
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with referral partners, funders, commercial partners, and service providers
Prepare and maintain standard contract templates for consumer (regulated and unregulated) and commercial borrowers
Support corporate governance activities, including reporting to senior management and assistance to the General Counsel and Company Secretary
Partner with the business to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, including incident investigations and remediation
Prepare and deliver compliance training to internal stakeholders
Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments impacting financial services and consumer credit
Tertiary qualification in Law and admission to practice in NSW or another Australian jurisdiction
4-8 years' post-qualification experience
Experience advising on the legal and regulatory framework applicable to financial services, including consumer credit, banking and finance, and the Corporations Act
Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, practical legal advice across a broad range of regulatory and commercial matters
Strong interest in financial services and fintech, with an understanding of the regulatory and commercial challenges in the sector
Commercially minded with a strong focus on stakeholder experience and outcomes
Proactive, engaged, and eager to learn
High attention to detail with a consistent record of high-quality work
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively both autonomously and in collaboration with diverse stakeholders
