Head of Business Development – National Growth Role

Identify and secure new retail, commercial and specialist channel partnerships across Australia.

MARS recruitment are exclusively partnering with a well-established, growth-focused wholesaler to appoint a Head of Business Development - Australia, a newly created role designed to accelerate expansion into new markets, channels and customer segments.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a commercially astute operator who thrives on opening doors, building partnerships, and delivering sustainable growth beyond existing core accounts.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Group General Manager, you will take ownership of new business strategy and execution across Australia, with a clear mandate to diversify revenue and unlock new growth channels.

You will operate as a senior individual contributor, working closely with internal teams across product, marketing and operations to bring new partnerships to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a national new business strategy aligned to growth objectives
  • Identify, prioritise and secure new customers across retail, commercial and emerging channels
  • Build and convert a high-quality pipeline of opportunities across multiple sectors
  • Lead end-to-end commercial negotiations including trading terms, pricing structures and supply agreements
  • Establish long-term strategic partnerships that deliver sustainable revenue growth
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to onboard and scale new customers successfully
  • Provide market insights to inform product, pricing and go-to-market strategy

About You

  • 5-10+ years' experience in business development, sales or commercial roles within retail, consumer goods or related sectors
  • Proven track record of opening new accounts and driving incremental revenue growth
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in pricing, margin management and deal structuring
  • Deep understanding of the Australian market and buying landscape
  • Confident negotiator with the ability to influence at senior stakeholder level
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong drive to build and grow new opportunities
