Mars Recruitment is partnering with a leading corporate institutional bank in Sydney to find an experienced Operational Risk & Controls Analyst to join a high-performing Risk team. Working closely with senior risk leaders, you will play a key role in supporting the operational risk framework, internal controls, audit management, regulatory compliance and business-wide risk initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the operational risk management framework.
Assist with the coordination of internal and external audits, reviews and regulatory assessments.
Monitor operational risk matters and support remediation activities arising from audit findings and control reviews.
Prepare risk reports, analysis and management information for senior stakeholders and risk committees.
Assist in the planning and delivery of business-wide projects relating to risk, controls and governance.
Conduct control testing, risk assessments and targeted reviews across business functions.
Support the maintenance and communication of policies, procedures and Head Office requirements.
Build strong relationships across the business to promote effective risk management and control practices.
Contribute to regulatory compliance activities, including alignment with APRA prudential standards and expectations.
Assist in identifying opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve operational risk processes.
Key Requirements:
Experience within Operational Risk, Risk & Compliance, Internal Audit, Controls Assurance, Risk Governance or a related function within banking.
Understanding of operational risk frameworks, controls, governance and audit processes.
Knowledge of Australian banking regulations and APRA prudential standards.
Strong analytical and reporting capabilities with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within deadlines.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Strong written skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports for senior management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business, Commerce, Risk Management, Accounting or a related discipline preferred.
