Senior Occupational Therapist | Home Modifications | Perth South Metro

Full-time | Community-Based | Senior Role | Growing Allied Health Team

MARS Healthcare is partnering with a well-established community healthcare provider to find a Senior Occupational Therapist to join their growing Allied Health team.

This is a great role for an experienced OT who enjoys solving problems, thinking outside the box and finding practical solutions that genuinely make a difference to people's lives.

The focus will be heavily around home modifications, functional assessments and assistive technology, supporting older Australians to remain safe, independent and living well in their own homes.

You'll be joining an established team with strong referral pathways, but there's also plenty of scope to make your mark. They're looking for someone with good energy, a team-first attitude and the drive to help build and develop the OT service as the team grows.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Full-time Senior OT position
  • Strong focus on home modifications, equipment and complex functional assessments
  • Established client base and referral pathways
  • Opportunity to help grow and develop the OT team
  • Work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary Allied Health team
  • Autonomy to manage your own caseload and schedule
  • Full kilometre reimbursement for work-related travel
  • Strong operational and administrative support
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Opportunity to have a genuine say in how the OT service develops
  • Make a meaningful difference to older Australians and their families

The Role

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you'll work with older Australians across Perth's southern metropolitan region, helping clients remain safe, independent and able to continue living in their own homes.

A big part of the role will be home modifications and finding practical solutions to complex situations. You'll assess the client's functional needs, understand what's important to them and work out what changes, equipment or supports will make the biggest difference.

You'll also play an important role within the wider OT team, sharing your knowledge, supporting other clinicians and helping build a strong team culture as the service continues to grow.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Completing comprehensive functional and home-based assessments
  • Assessing and recommending home modifications to improve safety, accessibility and independence
  • Prescribing appropriate assistive technology and equipment
  • Working through complex situations and finding practical, client-focused solutions
  • Developing and reviewing individualised intervention and care plans
  • Working closely with clients, families, carers, builders, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Providing clinical guidance and support to other Occupational Therapists
  • Sharing your knowledge and experience with the wider Allied Health team
  • Contributing to the development and growth of the OT service
  • Supporting a positive, collaborative and high-energy team culture
  • Maintaining high-quality clinical documentation and reports

About You

We're looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist who brings good energy to a team and enjoys getting stuck into a problem.

You don't need to have every answer straight away. We're looking for someone who is curious, practical and enjoys working out how to make things happen.
You'll ideally have:

  • A Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Significant experience working as an Occupational Therapist
  • Strong experience with home modifications and functional assessments
  • Experience prescribing assistive technology and equipment
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence working autonomously in the community
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting and mentoring other clinicians
  • A team-first attitude and positive approach
  • Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle

This role is about more than just clinical experience.

We're looking for someone who is a great problem solver, enjoys working with people and brings positive energy to the team.

Someone who can walk into a challenging home modification assessment, look at the situation from a few different angles and come up with a practical solution.

Someone who enjoys sharing their knowledge, supporting others and being part of a team - but is also happy to roll their sleeves up and get things done.

Most importantly, you'll be joining an organisation that wants to build something strong, rather than simply fill a position. You'll have the opportunity to help shape the OT service, support the growth of the team and have a genuine influence on how the service develops.
