Mars Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join an Acute Social Work team within a regional hospital in Katherine, Northern Territory.
This is an excellent opportunity to build on your acute hospital experience while working across a varied and complex caseload in a regional and remote healthcare environment.
Relocation assistance of up to $12,000 is available for eligible permanent employees, along with support to help you settle into the region.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality Social Work services to patients and their families/carers across acute hospital services, including Emergency Department and General Medicine.
You will manage a varied and often high-volume caseload, supporting patients presenting with complex psychosocial needs and providing assessment, intervention, discharge planning and ongoing support.
The role will also involve providing contemporary Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) intervention, including risk assessment and safety planning within a regional and remote context.
Provide high-quality clinical Social Work services to patients and families/carers across acute hospital settings
Work across Emergency Department, General Medicine and acute hospital services
Independently manage and prioritise a complex and high-volume caseload
Undertake psychosocial assessment, intervention, care coordination and discharge planning
Provide support to patients and families experiencing complex psychosocial circumstances
Provide contemporary DFSV intervention, risk assessment and safety planning
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and cross-sector teams
Deliver timely, clinically appropriate and culturally safe Social Work services
Contribute to effective discharge planning and patient outcomes
Work with patients and communities within a regional and remote healthcare environment
To be successful in this position, you will have:
A relevant Social Work qualification that meets membership eligibility requirements of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Previous experience working in an acute hospital setting
Experience across Emergency Department and General Medicine
Strong clinical assessment, intervention and psychosocial support skills
Experience supporting patients and families/carers with complex psychosocial needs
Experience providing contemporary DFSV intervention, risk assessment and safety planning
The ability to independently plan, prioritise and manage a high-volume and complex workload
The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Confidence working within multidisciplinary and cross-sector environments
The ability to provide clinically and culturally appropriate Social Work services
Previous experience working in a rural or remote healthcare setting
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Previous experience working within the Northern Territory
