Manager, Financial Crime Risk & Controls

Support enterprise-wide AML/CTF, sanctions, and fraud risk governance across a global financial institution!

Mars Recruitment is partnering with a global financial institution to find an experienced financial crime compliance professional to join the team. This role sits within a Line 2 risk function and plays a key part in strengthening the organisation's enterprise-wide financial crime compliance framework. The position focuses on governance, regulatory oversight, risk management, and the effectiveness of financial crime controls across the business.

This role will act as a central coordination point between business units, regional teams, and head office stakeholders. They will ensure financial crime risks are appropriately identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated in line with regulatory obligations and internal compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the financial crime compliance governance framework across AML/CTF, sanctions, anti-bribery & corruption, and fraud risk areas
  • Monitor regulatory developments, assess relevance, and coordinate implementation of required changes across stakeholders
  • Lead and support enterprise-wide financial crime risk assessments across products, services, and business initiatives
  • Partner with business and compliance teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial crime risks, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and operating effectively
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial crime control frameworks, including oversight of control testing and monitoring activities
  • Maintain structured and up-to-date risk and control documentation to support governance and audit requirements
  • Provide support for financial crime governance forums, including coordination of agendas, papers, minutes, and management reporting
  • Deliver accurate and timely compliance reporting to internal stakeholders, regional teams, and head office functions
  • Maintain financial crime compliance policies and procedures, ensuring documentation remains current and aligned with internal standards
  • Support the delivery and tracking of financial crime training programs, including completion monitoring and reporting
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activity, regulatory reviews, and compliance assurance engagements, including tracking and closure of findings
  • Assist with operational requirements such as vendor coordination and basic administrative support for the function

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in financial crime compliance, risk, or regulatory compliance roles
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, and anti-bribery & corruption frameworks
  • Experience working within governance, risk, or controls-focused environments
  • Practical experience in risk assessments, compliance monitoring, or control testing activities
  • Exposure to governance committees, reporting cycles, or secretariat-style support work
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at different levels
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating across teams and functions
  • Professional, proactive, and adaptable approach in a regulated environment with strong accountability and integrity
