Mars Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing Australian fintech lender in Sydney to find an experienced Risk and Compliance professional to join the team on a permanent basis. Our client has built strong momentum across multiple lending verticals and continues to expand its market presence by delivering faster, more accessible financial products.
This is a high-impact role within a dynamic, founder-led environment where compliance and risk management play a critical role in enabling sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain risk and compliance frameworks, policies, and internal controls aligned with regulatory obligations
Conduct risk assessments and control testing to identify gaps, working with business teams to implement corrective actions
Maintain and enhance enterprise and functional risk registers, ensuring risks are appropriately identified, assessed, and monitored
Support incident management activities including root cause analysis, remediation planning, and tracking of corrective actions
Prepare clear and timely risk and compliance reporting for senior leadership and governance forums
Monitor regulatory and legislative changes, assess business impact, and recommend required updates to frameworks and processes
Review marketing, website content, and customer communications to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Oversee Target Market Determinations (TMDs) and ensure ongoing appropriateness and governance
Maintain and enhance AML/CTF frameworks in line with AUSTRAC requirements
Oversee customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring processes
Ensure timely regulatory reporting, including suspicious matter and transaction reporting obligations
Design and deliver risk and compliance training to strengthen awareness and organisational capability
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field
Minimum 5 years' experience in risk, compliance, internal audit, or operational risk roles within financial services
Strong understanding of Australian regulatory frameworks, including consumer credit obligations, AML/CTF, privacy, and operational risk
Experience with risk assessments, control testing, and compliance monitoring activities
Proven ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business controls
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation
High attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
Strong written and verbal communication skills
