Mars Recruitment is parterning with a leading non-bank lender to find a commercially focused Legal Counsel to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with 2-5 years PQE to step into a newly created position focusing on debt collection and litigation.
Prepare and lodge caveats and mortgages with relevant land registries.
Act as the primary legal contact for Collections and Workout teams, providing practical and timely advice.
Contribute to the design and optimisation of legal workflows that support debt recovery strategies.
Draft and negotiate settlement deeds, repayment arrangements, and restructuring documentation.
Assist with AFCA dispute responses.
Provide ad hoc legal and regulatory advice and review contracts as needed.
Law degree with a current Australian practising certificate.
2-5 years PQE, ideally in lending, debt recovery, or commercial litigation.
Strong experience preparing caveats, mortgages, and settlement documentation.
Experience managing or advising on commercial debt collection litigation is advantageous.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
High integrity and professional judgment with a business-minded approach.
