Calling all First-Line Risk professionals with a strong lending and deposit portfolio.
Mars Recruitment is partnering with a leading APRA-regulated, financial services organisation to find an experienced Senior Risk Manager to join the team. This role is critical to embedding and uplifting the First Line of Defence risk culture across lending operations, customer support, and deposit products. You'll work closely with business leaders, risk and compliance teams, and external auditors to ensure risk is proactively managed.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and implementation of the First Line of Defence Risk Framework across lending, deposits, and operations
Own the RCSA, control environment, hindsight reviews, and quality assurance testing for operational processes
Develop, maintain, and embed policies for credit, responsible lending, and deposit-taking activities
Lead internal and external audit preparation, response coordination, and follow-up on findings
Partner with 2LoD teams to ensure a proactive approach to compliance obligations and risk remediation
Deliver risk and compliance training across operations and support a strong risk-aware culture
Monitor, report, and investigate incidents and key risk indicators
Manage Line 1 risk reporting for senior stakeholders, including ELT and Board committees
Manage one direct report and mentor a small risk support team within Operations
Key Requirements:
10+ years' experience in banking or financial services, with proven expertise in Line 1 Risk, Business Risk, or Lending Operations
Deep understanding of residential/commercial lending, deposit products, and associated risks
Solid working knowledge of credit risk, responsible lending (RG209), and ASIC/APRA obligations
Hands-on experience building and executing risk frameworks, control testing, and incident management
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain operational policies and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing reports for risk committees or Boards
Experience managing external audits and engaging with internal and external stakeholders
Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a lean, agile team environment
Degree qualified in Business, Finance, Law or a related field (desirable)
