Vendor Manager

Drive vendor performance, risk oversight, and strategic value across critical supplier relationships.

Mars Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing, financial services firm looking to hire an experienced Vendor Manager. This newly created role is critical in uplifting third-party governance and ensuring alignment with CPS 230 requirements across the organisation's operations.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the vendor management framework - from due diligence and on-boarding to performance monitoring, cost optimisation, and regulatory compliance. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the business and work closely with senior leaders, external providers, and regulatory stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end vendor lifecycle: selection, on-boarding, due diligence, contract negotiation, performance review, and offboarding.
  • Develop and implement a robust third-party risk and vendor governance framework aligned to CPS 230 and other APRA standards.
  • Monitor vendor performance against SLAs and KPIs, identifying and mitigating risks proactively.
  • Oversee third-party compliance with regulatory expectations, data protection, BCP/DRP, and operational resilience.
  • Act as the key point of contact for all external vendor relationships, resolving service issues and supporting business continuity planning.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and IT teams to support audit responses and continuous improvement.
  • Support strategic initiatives by identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate vendor documentation and support regulatory reporting obligations.

Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in vendor management, procurement, contract governance, or third-party risk (ideally within financial services or a regulated sector).
  • Sound understanding of vendor-related regulatory obligations, especially APRA's CPS 230.
  • Skilled in contract review, service agreements, performance metrics, and compliance oversight.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels across legal, risk, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field (preferred).
