Technical Accounting Manager | IFRS/AASB 2 | 6-Month FTC | Sydney CBD | Hybrid Working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically strong accounting professional to join a growing technology-led business undertaking a major product development initiative within the employee share plan and equity compensation space.
This is a highly unique role sitting at the intersection of technical accounting, equity remuneration and product development. Working closely with Product, Business Analysts, delivery teams and finance SMEs, you will play a key role in shaping and de-risking the v1 scope of a new share-based payments accounting solution.
The position would suit an experienced IFRS 2 / AASB 2 specialist who enjoys solving complex accounting problems while translating technical accounting requirements into practical system functionality and product outcomes.
The Opportunity
Reporting into senior project leadership, you will provide subject matter expertise across IFRS 2 / AASB 2 accounting treatment and support the design, development and testing of a new accounting module.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on v1 scope recommendations and future-state functionality
- Translating IFRS 2 / AASB 2 requirements into accounting logic and software rules
- Supporting Product and BA teams with functional requirements and acceptance criteria
- Developing accounting calculations, examples and "golden" test cases
- Providing guidance around technical accounting policy decisions
- Supporting UAT, pilot readiness and implementation activities
- Advising on the treatment of vesting conditions, forfeitures and leavers
- Working collaboratively across finance, product and delivery stakeholders
About You
We are seeking a senior technical accounting professional with strong IFRS 2 expertise and the ability to operate across both finance and technology environments.
You will ideally bring:
- 8+ years' experience within technical accounting, accounting advisory, finance transformation or consulting
- Deep expertise in IFRS 2 / AASB 2 share-based payment accounting
- Strong experience with:
- Expense schedules and journals
- Options, rights, RSUs and performance rights
- Roll-forwards and disclosure requirements
- Equity remuneration accounting treatment
- The ability to translate accounting requirements into functional specifications and practical business rules
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A collaborative and commercially minded approach
Highly Regarded
- Big 4 Accounting Advisory or CFO Advisory background
- Black-Scholes or Monte Carlo valuation exposure
- Equity remuneration or reward consulting experience
- Experience with employee share plan or equity compensation platforms
- Exposure to cash-settled awards and liability remeasurement
- Listed company reporting experience
- Finance systems or product implementation exposure
