Senior Payroll Specialist

Lead global payroll across AUS, NZ, UK & US in a fast-growing retail business driving systems, compliance, and process projects.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a fast-growing, global retail business experiencing significant international expansion. This is a hands-on leadership role within a high-performing and collaborative team, offering the chance to drive payroll operations and process improvements across multiple international regions.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of end-to-end payroll operations across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the United States.

Key responsibilities include:

  • End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing across multiple countries
  • Managing payroll compliance, statutory obligations, superannuation, payroll tax, and reporting
  • Interpreting and applying awards, legislation, and payroll policies
  • Processing payroll adjustments including terminations, back pays, overtime, and allowances
  • Managing payroll reconciliations, audits, month-end and year-end processes
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and payroll analytics
  • Leading payroll process improvements, systems enhancements, and automation initiatives
  • Partnering closely with Finance and People & Culture teams
  • Supporting international payroll growth and compliance as the business expands

About You

You are an experienced payroll professional who enjoys operating in a dynamic, evolving environment and is comfortable being hands-on in the detail while also driving improvement initiatives.

You will bring:

  • Proven end-to-end payroll experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and compliance
  • Advanced Excel and payroll systems capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Experience with international payrolls highly regarded
  • Retail industry experience advantageous
