Senior Payroll Officer - 3 Month Temporary Contract

Our client is a large and well-established transportation organisation seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their Melbourne CBD team on an initial 3-month temporary contract.

The Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will support the payroll function with a heavy focus on payroll reconciliations and data accuracy. You will be responsible for reviewing payroll data, identifying discrepancies and ensuring payroll records are accurate and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed payroll reconciliations across payroll, general ledger, superannuation and other payroll-related accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies and variances.
• Review payroll data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with end-to-end payroll processing and payroll adjustments.
• Reconcile leave, timesheets, allowances, deductions and other payroll components.
• Ensure compliance with PAYG, superannuation, awards and EBA/EA requirements.
• Respond to payroll queries and assist with resolving complex payroll issues.
• Prepare payroll reports and assist with month-end and audit requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls.

About You

• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Payroll Officer or similar.
• Strong experience in payroll reconciliations, with excellent attention to detail.
• Solid end-to-end payroll processing experience within a large or complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with large volumes of payroll data.
• Available to commence at short notice for an initial 3-month contract.
