We're partnering with a respected construction company based in Perth that's growing steadily. They're looking for a Senior Payroll Officer to take responsibility for managing payroll across multiple sites. This role is hands-on and detail-focused, playing an important part in keeping the payroll process accurate and efficient.
Role
Process weekly payrolls for a diverse workforce across several locations, ensuring everyone is paid correctly and on time
Ensure payroll complies with all relevant Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), awards, site rates, and government legislation
Work closely with HR to support onboarding, exits, and maintain accurate employee records
Handle payroll components such as superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG, and other deductions, plus monthly reconciliations
Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting, end-of-year payroll activities, and assist with audits when required
Respond promptly to payroll queries from employees and other departments with clear, helpful answers
Continuously seek ways to simplify and improve payroll processes for greater efficiency
Requirements
Around 5 years of payroll experience, ideally in construction, mining, oil & gas, or similar industries with multi-site operations
Strong understanding of managing payroll under complex EBAs and industrial agreements
Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades, including process design and testing
Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate clearly and professionally with different stakeholders
Proactive about improving processes rather than just maintaining the status quo
