Senior Operations Manager – Deposits

Lead deposit operations end-to-end, driving customer experience, risk control, and process improvement in a banking environment.

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced banking operations leader to take ownership of end-to-end deposit operations within a growing financial services environment.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all deposit-related activities including onboarding, servicing, payments, account maintenance, maturity processing and customer retention.

You will act as the operational lead for the deposit function, driving performance, strengthening risk and compliance outcomes, and continuously improving the customer experience across the full lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end deposit operations including onboarding, servicing, payments and account maintenance
  • Drive strong customer outcomes through improved processes, reduced friction and enhanced service delivery
  • Use customer feedback, complaints and operational trends to identify gaps and implement improvements
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory obligations including AML/CTF, APRA, ASIC, DDO and internal policies
  • Oversee risk controls, fraud detection and operational risk frameworks across deposit activities
  • Partner with Product, Technology, Risk and Finance teams to enhance operational performance and efficiency
  • Support deposit pricing, retention strategy and portfolio insights through commercial and operational analysis
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering accountability and engagement
  • Manage audits, reporting, dashboards and operational insights to support decision-making
  • Drive automation, system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives


About You

  • 5+ years' leadership experience in banking or financial services operations
  • Strong knowledge of deposit products, payments systems and core banking environments
  • Proven experience across operational risk, compliance and regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to manage complex customer structures and interpret legal documentation
  • Strong analytical capability with experience using data to drive operational improvements
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
