MARS are partnering with a leading, dynamic and listed financial services company to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant for their Sydney office. This is a pivotal, high-impact role within a collaborative Group Finance team, perfect for an experienced accountant who enjoys taking ownership, driving improvements, and partnering closely with senior leaders.

About the Role:

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in shaping the finance function, providing actionable insights to guide business decisions, and supporting strategic initiatives across the organisation. You will be part of a highly collaborative team and have the opportunity to influence process improvements, systems enhancements, and the way the finance function operates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of monthly management results, board packs, and ad-hoc reports, delivering insightful commentary on performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Provide meaningful variance analysis and cost centre reporting to support decision-making across the business.
• Oversee timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in line with GAAP/IFRS, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Support strategic projects and ad-hoc analysis, providing insights that help shape business strategy.
• Partner with internal and external auditors to ensure a smooth, efficient audit process and compliance with all reporting requirements.
• Drive finance process improvements and automation initiatives, including system upgrades, data integrity projects, and streamlining workflows.
• Mentor junior team members, contributing to the development of a high-performing finance team.

About You:

• CA/CPA qualified with 4+ years' accounting experience in Financial Services company or in a Big 4 chartered firm, managing a Financial Services portfolio.
• Sound experience in financial and management reporting and understanding of accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Highly proficient in Excel, with experience in ERP systems.
• Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements, streamline reporting, and enhance efficiency.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
• Proactive, motivated, and confident in taking ownership of outcomes and driving change.
