Senior Financial Accountant | 3-6M Temp | ASAP Start

3-6 month contract, immediate start, lead month/year-end & revenue processes. Potential for extension/perm. Working holiday visas encouraged to apply!

MARS are partnering with a well-established organisation to hire a Senior Financial Accountant on an initial 3-6 month contract, with potential for extension or permanent conversion.

This is an ASAP start role, offering the opportunity to work within a large, high-performing Group Finance team and contribute to complex financial operations and reporting.

About the Role:

Reporting into the Group Finance function, you will provide financial reporting support, act as second-in-charge for key finance processes and ensure accurate and timely accounting across the organisation. You will support month-end and year-end close, revenue recognition, external reporting, and finance process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including complex journals, balance sheet, and GL reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition across all business units, in line with accounting standards.
  • Maintain and review project ledgers, revenue allocations, and other financial records.
  • Prepare and provide data for external audits and support ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Support and mentor junior finance team members.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About You:

  • CPA/CA qualified (or equivalent) with 5+ years' experience in financial accounting or a similar role.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, including month-end close, reconciliations, and revenue recognition.
  • Experienced with large ERP systems (TechOne is beneficial) and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data manipulation/visualisation tools (SQL, PowerBI, PowerQuery) is a plus.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • Initial 3-6 month contract with potential for extension or permanent conversion.
  • Immediate start highly preferred.
  • Hybrid working model: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home

  • Available at less than 2 weeks' notice - shorter notice periods will be highly favoured.
  • Experience in a commercial environment (outside of audit) is essential.
