Senior Financial Accountant

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing bank to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant to join its Finance team in Sydney on a temporary to permanent basis.

This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the CFO, offering broad exposure across financial control, capital management, treasury, regulatory reporting, board reporting and long-term business planning.

The position extends well beyond a traditional financial accounting role and would suit an ambitious finance professional looking to step into a broader, commercially focused position within a growing banking environment.

The Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of the five-year business plan, including financial modelling, scenario analysis and capital planning.
  • Assist with capital-related initiatives, including the preparation of investor presentations and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and contribute to monthly Board reporting, providing clear and commercially focused financial insights.
  • Support capital management activities, including internal capital and liquidity assessments and stress testing.
  • Partner with the Treasury team to prepare daily liquidity reporting and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor the bank's liquidity position and assist with reporting to ALCO.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts and rolling cash flow reporting.
  • Prepare APRA regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with relevant prudential requirements.
  • Act as a key liaison for external auditors.
  • Manage month-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Contribute to system enhancements, process improvements and automation initiatives.

The Requirements:

  • CA/ACCA/CPA qualified with 4-6 years' experience across financial services or technical audit environments.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience applying accounting standards.
  • Experience across treasury accounting, liquidity reporting or capital management will be highly regarded.
  • Exposure to APRA regulatory reporting will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across the business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.

To Note:

  • Salary range of $130,000 - $150,000 + super, dependent on experience.
  • Direct reporting line into the CFO.
  • Broad exposure across treasury, capital, regulatory reporting, board reporting and commercial analysis.
