Senior Financial Accountant

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a leading professional services firm to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant on an 18-month FTC. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing team within a well-established and highly regarded organisation. Based in Sydney, the role reports directly to the Finance Manager.

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to support informed decision-making across the business.

The Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end reporting, ensuring accurate transaction recording and timely account reconciliations.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity by reviewing entries and applying appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Support year-end statutory reporting and audits by coordinating documentation and addressing audit queries.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, offering insights and variance analysis.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
  • Present financial results to senior management and key stakeholders.

The Requirements:

  • CA, CPA, or ACCA qualified with 2+ years of post-qualification experience.
  • Experience within the professional services sector is advantageous.
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial accounting, analysis, and reporting, with a solid grasp of relevant accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate and compliant financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss, and cash flow statements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and timely financial reporting.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of PivotTables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and other functions for in-depth financial analysis.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to convey financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

The Requirements:

  • Flexible work from home - 2 days from home per week.
  • Only considering Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents at this time.
  • Short notice periods are highly favoured.
