About The Role

MARS are partnering with an established organisation that's seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to take ownership of cost accounting activities within a complex operating environment. This role combines hands-on technical responsibility with team leadership and a strong focus on continuous improvement.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, the position plays a key role in delivering accurate, insightful cost information to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end cost accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance
• Manage and develop a small team responsible for costing and related reporting
• Prepare, analyse and present cost information, providing meaningful insights to senior stakeholders
• Partner with internal teams to ensure timely and reliable cost data
• Drive enhancements to costing processes, frameworks and internal controls
• Support cross-functional initiatives focused on systems, reporting and process optimisation
• Perform variance and trend analysis, identifying risks and improvement opportunities
• Assist with audit requirements and broader governance activities
• Support month-end close, reconciliations and general finance operations
• Undertake ad-hoc costing and analysis as required

About You:

• CA or CPA qualified with 6+ years' experience in accounting, including cost accounting
• Demonstrated experience owning an end-to-end cost accounting function
• Strong understanding of costing principles and methodologies
• Track record of improving costing processes and frameworks
• People management experience is advantageous
• Confident working with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
• Proactive, well-organised and able to manage competing priorities

• Only Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered for this role
• They operate in the office 4-5 days a week and have free parking onsite
