About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a commercially minded Senior Accountant to join a growing Australian mining and resources business.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of core group accounting and financial reporting, while gaining broad exposure across technical accounting, project finance, tax, systems and commercial decision making.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition from Big 4 or mid tier audit into a broad, commercially focused finance role.

The business is investing heavily in technology and digital transformation, including the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, giving you the opportunity to play a key role in the implementation and ongoing finance ownership of the ERP.

Key Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, half year and annual financial reporting
• Lead month end close including journals, accruals, reconciliations and P&L analysis
• Prepare statutory financial statements in line with AASB and IFRS
• Manage external audit processes and relationships
• Provide technical accounting advice across complex transactions
• Oversee BAS, payroll tax, FBT and corporate tax compliance
• Oversee payroll, insurance and other finance administration
• Support statutory and regulatory reporting across Australian and New Zealand entities
• Support the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
• Become the finance owner of the ERP following implementation
• Improve reporting, automation, controls and finance processes
• Leverage Power BI, Microsoft 365 and AI enabled tools to improve finance capability
• Mentor junior members of the finance team
• Partner with senior stakeholders across the business
  
  About You
• CA or CPA qualified, with CA preferred
• 4 to 5+ years' accounting experience
• 3 to 4+ years' experience within Big 4 or leading mid tier audit
• Strong AASB and IFRS knowledge
• Experience preparing statutory financial statements
• Experience across complex or multi entity environments
• ERP implementation or administration experience
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O experience highly regarded
• Mining, resources, construction or project based experience highly regarded
• Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft 365 skills
• Power BI, SharePoint and Teams experience desirable
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Commercially minded with strong stakeholder management skills
• Proactive, hands on and technology focused
