Procurement Specialist

  • Industry: Financial Services
  • Salary: $95,000 - $98,000 + super
  • Location: St Kilda Road. 2 days in office (Tues or Wed preferred), flexible otherwise

If you're looking for a procurement role where you're genuinely part of the engine room rather than one cog in a giant machine, this is worth a look.

The Procurement Specialist will be supporting a longstanding Procurement Manager who's been with the business nearly six years so there's plenty of stability, knowledge, and support around.

This role manly sits across procurement of services with exposure to everything from IT and consulting through to utilities. It's a mix of sourcing, contract management, stakeholder support, and plenty of opportunities to strengthen governance and process.

You don't need decades of experience. What matters most is good judgement, solid communication skills, and the ability to guide busy stakeholders who often need a bit of direction through the procurement and CMS process.

The role

You'll support the Procurement Manager across a broad remit, including:

  • Facilitating sourcing and tender processes, reviewing contracts (typically up to $200k), maintaining registers, and ensuring documentation stays tight and compliant.
  • Providing guidance to stakeholders on procurement requirements, quotes, spend thresholds, best practice, and policy alignment.
  • Supporting contract governance, performance reviews, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Helping deliver the organisation's Modern Slavery Statement and due diligence work.
  • Supporting APRA-related procurement obligations, climate reporting and other regulatory uplift.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across procurement systems, frameworks and reporting.

Why this role is appealing

  • The environment is regulated, but not bureaucratic. You'll still be able to move quickly and get things done.
  • The Procurement Manager is experienced, supportive and actively developing the function.
  • You'll gain exposure to modern slavery, APRA uplift, and broader compliance work that will strengthen your CV.

What they're looking for

  • Experience in procurement and contract management, including tenders, negotiations and monitoring compliance.
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships and influence stakeholders who don't live and breathe procurement.
  • Good governance mindset, attention to detail, and confidence working within regulated environments.
