Payroll Team Leader

Payroll Team Leader | Up to $130k plus super | Team of 4 | Hybrid working | Flexible hours

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a Perth-based business to recruit a Payroll Team Lead to join a small, collaborative payroll function.

This is a hands-on lead role suited to an experienced Senior Payroll Officer looking to take the next step, while remaining closely involved in the end-to-end payroll process.

The Opportunity

Working within a team of four, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day payroll process, provide guidance to the wider team and help ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time.

This isn't a traditional people-management role. Instead, you'll be the go-to person within the team - getting involved in the detail, supporting Payroll Officers and helping improve processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and coordinate end-to-end payroll processing
  • Manage weekly and monthly payroll cycles
  • Review payroll data, employee changes and payroll adjustments
  • Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, superannuation, PAYG and leave
  • Act as a point of escalation for payroll queries
  • Support and upskill Payroll Officers
  • Help manage workflow, priorities and payroll deadlines
  • Maintain strong payroll processes and compliance
  • Contribute to ongoing payroll process and system improvements
  • Work closely with the Payroll Manager and wider business

About You

We're looking for someone with strong end-to-end payroll experience who enjoys being hands-on and supporting those around them.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong end-to-end payroll processing experience
  • Experience across weekly and/or monthly payroll cycles
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance and legislation
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Confidence supporting and developing less experienced team members
  • A respectful, approachable and collaborative communication style

What's on Offer?

  • $110,000 - $130,000 + super, depending on experence
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Perth-based
  • Up to 2 days WFH per week
  • Flexible start and finish times
