Payroll Supervisor

Lead, Improve & Transform | Mining & Resources | Hybrid Working | ADP

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a well-established international business in the mining and resources sector to find an experienced Payroll Supervisor ready to take ownership, develop a team and drive meaningful change.

This is more than a BAU payroll role. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, process improvement, and the integration of newly acquired businesses into a centralised payroll function.

With an established team and existing processes in place, you'll have the opportunity to build on the foundations, strengthen payroll operations, and help shape how the function evolves.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, coach and develop an established payroll team.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities & pay cycles.
  • Support the integration of acquired businesses, including payroll transitions, systems, and processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, controls, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Resolve complex payroll queries and provide technical guidance to the team.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and ATO requirements.
  • Partner with Finance and HR on reconciliations, reporting, audits, and payroll-related matters.
  • Remain hands-on when required while balancing leadership and project responsibilities.

What you'll bring

  • Strong end-to-end Australian payroll experience in a complex, multi-entity environment.
  • Experience leading, mentoring or developing payroll professionals.
  • Sound knowledge of awards, enterprise agreements, and Australian payroll compliance.
  • Experience with payroll systems, process improvements and ideally acquisitions, integrations or implementations.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence investigating complex payroll issues.
  • Excellent communication, sound judgement, and a collaborative leadership style.

Experience with ADP and exposure to mining, resources or construction, will be highly regarded.

Most importantly, you'll be proactive, solutions-focused and motivated to make a difference. You'll enjoy developing people, challenging existing processes and taking ownership beyond the day-to-day.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Genuine ownership: Influence how the payroll function operates and evolves.
  • Leadership development: Build team capability and establish yourself as a trusted payroll leader.
  • Transformation exposure: Get involved in acquisitions, integrations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Flexible working: Hybrid arrangements and on-site parking.
  • Employee benefits: Access to a range of benefits, including income protection, novated leasing, paid parental leave and additional long service leave.
