Payroll Officer - 12 Month Contract

The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established multinational organisation located in Melbourne's inner city suburbs, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their collaborative payroll team on an initial 12-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong end-to-end payroll experience and proven exposure to Chris21 to join a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll accurately and in line with relevant legislation, awards, and company policies
• Maintain employee payroll records, including new starters, terminations, pay adjustments, and leave management
• Process payroll deductions including PAYG, superannuation, and salary packaging
• Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end activities
• Manage payroll queries from employees and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
• Ensure compliance with Fair Work, taxation, and superannuation legislation
• Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and data validation activities
• Liaise with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy and process improvement
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within payroll operations

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a Payroll Officer position within a medium to large organisation
• Proven end-to-end payroll processing experience
• Essential experience using Chris21/iChris payroll system
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and compliance requirements
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
