Payroll Officer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join a collaborative People team supporting payroll operations across multiple regions. This role offers the opportunity to work across end-to-end payroll processing, system improvements, and international payroll coordination.

About the role

You will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll across Australia and New Zealand, while supporting payroll providers across other global regions. You will also contribute to payroll system improvements through data cleansing and system readiness initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll across multiple pay cycles (weekly, fortnightly, monthly).
• Provide payroll coverage during team leave periods.
• Maintain and validate payroll and employee data.
• Support payroll system upgrades and data cleanup activities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
• Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and audit support.
• Support onboarding of payroll for new business locations.

Skills and experience

Required:

• End-to-end Australian payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and statutory obligations.
• Experience with cloud-based payroll systems.
• Strong Excel, reconciliation, and numerical skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred:

• New Zealand payroll exposure.
• Experience with Employment Hero.
• Exposure to payroll data migration or system implementations.
• SAP or HRIS experience.
• Multi-country payroll exposure.
• Payroll certification.
