Join a growing business in a varied Payroll & Finance Officer role, combining payroll, compliance and AP, with hybrid working on offer.

An exciting opportunity is available for a Payroll & Finance Officer to join a well-established, growing Australian business.

This newly created role is primarily focused on managing the internal payroll function, with some backup Accounts Payable support as required. Working closely with the CFO and wider Finance and People & Culture teams, you'll play an important role in ensuring accurate payroll administration and compliance across the business.

What's on offer?

  • $90,000-$95,000 base salary + super.
  • Hybrid working, with up to a 50/50 office and WFH split. Wednesdays are essential in the office.
  • Newly created role with autonomy and direct exposure to a supportive CFO.

Key responsibilities

Payroll Administration & Compliance

  • Coordinate fortnightly payroll across four group entities, covering approximately 350 employees, in partnership with an outsourced payroll provider.
  • Review payroll reports, investigate discrepancies and manage payroll enquiries.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding with the People & Culture team.
  • Assist with payroll tax, portable long service leave, WorkCover and year-end reporting.
  • Maintain payroll records and support audits and reconciliations.

Accounts Payable & Finance Support

  • Provide backup support to AP during busy periods and staff absences.
  • Process supplier invoices, payments and staff reimbursements.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end tasks and other finance activities as required.

About you

  • Previous experience managing or coordinating a payroll function.
  • Good understanding of payroll processes and compliance requirements.
  • Accounts Payable experience and willingness to provide support when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable taking ownership.

Employment Hero experience is highly regarded but not essential. Exposure to payroll tax and WorkCover is also advantageous, with support available to develop in these areas.

Why join?

Join a supportive and collaborative team in a newly created role where you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of payroll, develop your skills and work closely with the CFO.

If you're looking for a payroll-focused role with some variety across Accounts Payable, we'd love to hear from you!
