Position Overview

The Payroll Officer will play a key role in supporting the wider Payoll team with end-to-end payroll processing for the organisation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of payroll systems and regulations, particularly within the education sector or similar service-based environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process fortnightly/monthly payroll accurately and in accordance with company policies and relevant legislation (e.g., Fair Work Act, NES, Superannuation, etc.).

  • Maintain payroll records and employee data, including new hires, terminations, leave entitlements, and contract changes.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and employment legislation.

  • Ass with preparing payroll reports and reconciliations for internal stakeholders and external auditors.

  • Calculate and process superannuation, PAYG, and other statutory obligations.

  • Respond to payroll queries from employees in a timely and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure alignment on employee remuneration and benefits.

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information at all times.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of payroll procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Requirements

  • 2-3 years experience in payroll administration

  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with payroll systems HR3 or Employment Hero - Beneficial but not essential

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Payroll Administration, Accounting, or related field.

  • Experience working with EA or award interpretations in education or public sector environments.

  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and integration with payroll.

AU$80000 - AU$85000 per annum + Super
