Management Accountant

Location: Melbourne City Fringe (100% onsite)
Salary: Circa $95-105k package (package = base + super combined)
Qualification: CA / CPA (or working towards)

The role sits in a high-performing commercial finance team and would suit someone newly qualified (or close to qualifying) who wants to move out of pure accounting and into the commercial side of finance.

This is not a slow, back-office role. The business has a strong cost culture, senior stakeholders who care about the detail, and a finance team that's highly respected internally.

About the role

You'll support the business through management accounting, forecasting and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Month-end close, including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Reviewing and analysing site and cost centre expenses, identifying and explaining variances
• Preparing monthly cost centre reporting for distribution to management
• Weekly labour reporting and monthly summaries for budget holders
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, including seasonal projections
• Maintaining forecast accuracy and challenging assumptions with stakeholders
• Quarterly royalty and licensing reporting
• Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, automation and processes

About you

• CA or CPA qualified, or actively working towards completion
• Around 3-5 years' experience in accounting or finance
• Strong fundamentals: journals, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis
• Curious, detail-oriented and keen to understand how the business actually operates
• Comfortable working onsite in a collaborative, fast-paced finance team
• Someone looking to grow, not sit at the same level indefinitely
• Big 4 or large-complex-business experience is highly regarded, but attitude and capability matter more than a perfect CV.
