MARS Recruitment is partnering with a globally recognised insurance organisation to recruit an experienced Head of Finance on a contract basis.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly successful international business with significant global scale and a strong market presence. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the finance function, taking ownership of financial control, statutory and regulatory reporting, payroll and day-to-day finance operations while partnering closely with senior leadership across the business.

This role is initially a contract opportunity with genuine potential to transition into a permanent position for the right individual.

The Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will provide leadership across the finance function, ensuring a strong financial control environment while delivering accurate statutory and regulatory reporting. You will oversee the finance team, support strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement across finance operations.

The Responsibilities:

• Lead the finance function, reporting directly to the CFO.
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting.
• Own statutory reporting and ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
• Lead all regulatory reporting obligations and maintain a robust financial control framework.
• Oversee payroll, general ledger and broader finance operations.
• Manage external audits and key relationships with auditors and other stakeholders.
• Lead, coach and develop the finance team.
• Drive finance process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide commercial and financial insights.

The Requirements:

• To be successful, you will be a proven finance leader with mandatory experience within the insurance industry.
• CA or CPA qualification.
• Previous experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller or senior finance leader.
• Strong expertise across financial control, statutory reporting and regulatory reporting.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing high-performing finance teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
• Experience working within a complex, multinational organisation will be highly regarded.
