Financial Reporting Manager

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to lead a high-performing finance team and oversee the delivery of financial reporting and governance requirements across a complex group structure.
The role is responsible for managing month-end close processes, reconciliations, audits, statutory reporting, and technical accounting matters. You'll also play a key part in enhancing financial systems, controls, and reporting frameworks while driving continuous improvement across the function.
Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and internal policies.

  • Lead the preparation and review of statutory financial statements and other financial reporting deliverables.

  • Manage group and local audit engagements from planning through to resolution of management letter matters.

  • Ensure timely completion of account reconciliations and other key control activities.

  • Prepare accounting position papers, policies, and procedures to support consistent financial treatment.

  • Maintain fixed asset and intangible asset registers in line with accounting standards.

  • Coordinate the completion of regulatory surveys and ad-hoc reporting requests.

  • Review and refine financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice.

  • Support system improvements and process optimisation initiatives to strengthen governance and efficiency.


Leadership & Team Management


  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of financial accountants, fostering professional growth and engagement.

  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, and team resourcing.

  • Set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and promote accountability.

  • Cultivate a positive team culture focused on collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • CA or CPA qualification

  • 8+ years' relevant experience in financial reporting, audit, or similar functions.

  • Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams.

  • Exposure to large or multinational organisational environments.

  • Experience within the energy, infrastructure, or complex asset-based industries (advantageous).

  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.

  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on enhancing systems, processes, and controls.
