The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Financial Controller to join a growing Australian mining and resources business as it enters a significant phase of development and expansion.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of the Group's financial control, reporting, technical accounting, tax, audit and finance operations across Australia and New Zealand.

This is a hands-on leadership role offering genuine influence. You will help build a scalable, high-quality finance function capable of supporting the business as a major development project moves towards production.

The organisation is also investing significantly in technology, automation and AI, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

The Role

You will take ownership across:

• Group financial reporting across Australian and New Zealand entities
• Monthly, quarterly, half-year and annual reporting
• Statutory financial statements under AASB and IFRS
• Complex technical accounting matters and accounting position papers
• Month-end close, consolidation and balance sheet governance
• Australian and New Zealand tax compliance and governance
• External audit and specialist adviser relationships
• Financial controls, accounting policies and governance
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementation and ownership
• Leadership of onshore and offshore finance resources
• Budgeting, financing and commercial decision support
• Process improvement, automation, Power BI and AI-enabled finance initiatives

You will work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team on broader commercial matters as the organisation transitions from development towards operations.

About You

You will be a technically strong and commercially minded finance leader who is comfortable taking ownership in a lean and growing environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• CA or CPA qualification, with CA preferred
• Approximately 7 to 10 years' relevant experience
• Strong foundation within Big 4 or a leading mid-tier accounting firm
• Subsequent experience as a Financial Controller, Group Finance Manager, Finance Manager or similar
• Strong AASB and IFRS technical accounting knowledge
• Ownership of statutory reporting, consolidations and external audit
• Practical Australian taxation experience, with New Zealand exposure advantageous
• Experience across complex, multi-entity environments
• Strong financial control, governance and risk management capability
• Experience leading internal, offshore or outsourced finance resources
• Strong commercial judgement and senior stakeholder management skills
• Advanced Excel and strong systems capability

Experience within mining, resources, construction, infrastructure or another capital-intensive environment would be highly regarded.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O experience, particularly implementation or finance ownership, would also be advantageous.
