The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit and collections process to ensure timely receipt of customer payments and effective management of customer accounts. This role plays a key part in maintaining healthy cash flow, minimising risk, and supporting strong customer relationships within a high-volume FMCG environment.
Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.
Conduct credit checks, establish credit limits, and assess customer creditworthiness.
Monitor accounts for overdue payments and proactively follow up with customers.
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, and Accounts teams.
Process account reconciliations and maintain accurate customer records.
Prepare and issue monthly customer statements and reminders.
Manage the escalation process for delinquent accounts, including initiating payment plans or recommending accounts for external recovery.
Support month-end reporting, including ageing analysis and cashflow forecasting.
Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements to support efficient credit operations.
Ensure compliance with company policies, credit procedures, and relevant legislation.
Previous experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or a similar role FMCG or high-volume environment preferred.
Strong understanding of credit and collections principles.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and intermediate Excel skills.
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
