Corporate Development Analyst

Our Client

Our client is a publicly listed mining and exploration business focused on precious and base metals. With an experienced Board and Management team, this is an exciting time to join the company and support the execution of their growth strategy.

The Opportunity

Reporting to Head of Corporate Development and working closely with other senior executives, you will apply your expertise and initiative to play a pivotal role in our growth strategy.

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Analyse and evaluate strategic transactions (mergers, acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, investments) and detailed industry analysis. This includes discounted cash flow modelling, trading comps, technical study reviews, accretion and dilution analysis, resource and reserve multiples and earnings multiple analysis.
  • Assist in all aspects of planning, negotiation and execution of M&A and strategic transactions, including project management, strategy, valuation, due diligence, risk mitigation, structuring, financing, documentation, communications, and marketing.
  • Prepare reports, memos and presentations for senior management and the board of Directors.
  • Maintain the internal framework for assessment and execution of business development activities (e.g. investment criteria, diligence frameworks, transaction memos etc) and target opportunity list
  • Actively develop and maintain meaningful relationships with industry contacts including potential counterparties, investment bankers, and other advisors.
  • Assist in all aspects of equity and debt financing transactions.

About You

You will have previous experience working in investment banking, transactions or valuations advisory, corporate development, corporate finance, or private equity, with experience in the mining sector. Ideally you will also bring to the role:

  • Tertiary degree in finance, commerce, engineering, or a similar disciple and approximately 3 to 6 years of work experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills, particularly building financial models, and a robust understanding and practical application of financial modelling and valuation concepts within the mining sector.
  • Advanced PowerPoint presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience executing deals in the mining sector.
  • Highly organised and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and team-oriented values.
  • Ability to think critically and take initiative.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator.
