Contracts Specialist – DIDO

Take ownership of post-award contracts, claims and variations on a major long-term mining project with a strong pipeline of work ahead.

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a leading organisation within the mining sector to recruit an experienced Contracts Specialist for a major long-term project.

This is a newly created position with a strong initial focus on post-award contract management, variations and claims. Working closely with the project and commercial teams, you will play a key role in reviewing contractual entitlements, collating supporting information and quantifying commercial impacts associated with variations.

The role would suit a commercially astute Contracts Specialist who enjoys getting into the detail of a contract and can combine strong contractual knowledge with the ability to understand and quantify the financial impact of project changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage post-award contract administration across a major mining project
  • Review contract terms and conditions to identify contractual entitlements, obligations and commercial risk
  • Lead the preparation, assessment and management of variations and claims
  • Collate project data and supporting documentation to substantiate contractual positions
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, commercial teams and other stakeholders to quantify the impact of changes and delays
  • Prepare commercial analysis and supporting documentation for compensation and variation discussions
  • Manage contractual correspondence, notices and records
  • Support negotiations and commercial discussions with the client
  • Monitor contract performance and ensure contractual requirements are appropriately administered
  • Provide ongoing contract administration and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle

About You

  • Strong experience in post-award contract management within mining, construction, engineering or major projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing claims, variations and contractual entitlements
  • Commercial and numerical capability, including experience quantifying claims and variations
  • Strong contract administration, documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Confidence working with project, engineering and commercial stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • A Contracts Law, Quantity Surveying, Commercial or similar background would be well regarded
