Contracts Specialist

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a growing resources organisation entering an exciting phase of operational and commercial growth.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Specialist to join the team and support a broad portfolio of operational, procurement and commercial activities. This role offers exposure across contract management, supplier engagement, commercial governance and procurement support within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

About the Role

Reporting into the Commercial and Procurement function, you will be responsible for managing contracts throughout their lifecycle, ensuring suppliers and contractors meet their obligations while supporting the business to achieve strong commercial outcomes.

Working closely with operations, finance, procurement and project stakeholders, you will provide commercial guidance, manage contractual risks and help drive continuous improvement across contract management processes.

This role would suit a proactive contracts professional who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and wants to contribute to the ongoing growth and maturity of a business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and administer a variety of operational and service contracts
  • Manage contract registers, documentation and contract management systems
  • Monitor supplier and contractor performance against contractual obligations and KPIs
  • Support sourcing and tender activities including RFQs, evaluations and contract award processes
  • Assist with the development of scopes of work, commercial documentation and contract packages
  • Review and manage contract variations, extensions, claims and commercial correspondence
  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
  • Facilitate supplier performance reviews and contract governance meetings
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, governance frameworks and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives across procurement and contract management activities
  • Provide commercial advice and support to operational and project stakeholders

About You

  • Previous exposure to mining, resources, construction, engineering or industrial environments highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of contract principles, procurement processes and commercial risk management
  • Experience supporting tendering, sourcing and supplier engagement activities
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to governance and compliance
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment
