MARS Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a busy finance team within the construction industry. This hands-on role will focus on high-volume invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment runs and resolving discrepancies, while ensuring accurate and timely accounts payable administration.

The successful candidate will be organised, reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to manage manual processes, work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities. A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of tasks while supporting the wider team will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high volumes of supplier invoices, including matching work orders and verifying supporting documentation.
• Obtain invoice approvals and prepare payment runs.
• Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
• Respond to supplier and internal stakeholder queries.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records within the finance system.
• Assist with month-end closing activities.
• Ensure transactions are processed accurately and in line with company policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and support automation initiatives.
• Manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines and performance targets.

About You

You will have experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role, with the ability to manage transactional workloads accurately and efficiently.

You will also bring:

• Experience with invoice processing, reconciliations, and payment scheduling.
• Proficiency in accounting systems such as MYOB or Xero.
• Sound Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Clear communication skills and a practical approach to resolving queries.
• The ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to respond to changing workloads and priorities.
• A basic understanding of GST and tax requirements for supplier invoices.
