About the Role

Our client, a leading Financial Services organisation, is seeking an experienced Statutory Reporting Manager to join their Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional to take ownership of statutory financial reporting, regulatory compliance and financial governance requirements within a complex and highly regulated environment.

Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Statutory Manager will be responsible for ensuring the organisation meets its statutory reporting obligations, maintains accurate financial records and complies with relevant accounting standards, legislation and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and delivery of statutory financial statements and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end statutory reporting processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, disclosures and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate statutory audits and act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and investigate financial discrepancies.
  • Review financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity.
  • Maintain appropriate financial controls, processes and documentation.
  • Monitor changes to accounting standards and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the organisation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Compliance and Operations.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and support on complex financial matters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve statutory reporting processes, controls and reporting efficiencies.
  • Assist with regulatory submissions and other reporting requirements as required.
  • Support finance projects, process improvements and ad hoc reporting initiatives.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced statutory accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience within financial services or another highly regulated environment.

You will ideally have:

  • CA/CPA qualification or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in statutory accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing external audits and working with external auditors.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and governance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong experience working with financial systems.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience within banking, insurance, superannuation, wealth management or broader financial services.
  • Experience with APRA, ASIC or other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience with large-scale ERP or financial reporting systems.
  • Experience in process improvement and finance transformation initiatives.
