About the organisation

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded organisation supporting customers across Australia.

With a strong focus on customer experience, innovation and delivering positive outcomes, they are looking for an experienced Collections Officer to join their collaborative and high-performing team on a temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of delinquent accounts with the aim of resolving outstanding payments
• Conducting inbound and outbound customer contact via phone and email
• Negotiating appropriate payment arrangements and solutions with customers
• Providing a high level of customer service across all contact points
• Managing sensitive and challenging customer conversations professionally and empathetically
• Ensuring relevant processes relating to bankruptcies, liquidations and external dispute matters are followed
• Maintaining accurate records and registers

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be confident communicating with customers and comfortable navigating challenging conversations.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in collections, credit, debt recovery or financial services
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to manage conflict and difficult conversations professionally
• Strong customer service skills and a customer-focused approach
• Excellent attention to detail and administrative skills
• The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong computer literacy and the ability to quickly learn new systems
• Experience with bankruptcy, liquidation or legal processes will be highly regarded
