MARS Recruitment is partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable professional looking to broaden their accounting exposure within a collaborative and supportive environment. Working closely with the wider finance function, you will support day-to-day finance operations while gaining exposure to reconciliations, month-end processes and financial reporting activities.
The Responsibilities:
* Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate approvals and coding.
* Manage creditor accounts, including supplier reconciliations, payment runs and resolution of invoice discrepancies.
* Respond to supplier enquiries and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
* Raise customer invoices and support the accurate and timely billing of revenue.
* Monitor debtor accounts and follow up outstanding balances.
* Allocate incoming payments and maintain accurate customer account records.
* Complete bank, balance sheet and account reconciliations.
* Support month-end processes through preparation of journals, schedules and working papers.
* Assist with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
* Support audit requests and provide relevant documentation as required.
* Assist with process improvement initiatives across finance operations.
* Provide support to internal stakeholders on finance-related queries.
The Requirements:
* Experience within Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or a broader finance support role.
* Previous exposure to month-end accounting processes.
* Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail.
* Experience using finance systems or ERP platforms.
* SAP and/or Concur experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
* Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to manage deadlines within a high-volume environment.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
* Progress towards, or completion of, a CA or CPA qualification will be highly regarded.
