Permanent Bookkeeper job opportunity to join our client, a well-established Accounting firm located in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs

The Opportunity

Our client is a highly regarded and long-standing Accounting firm based in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs, known for delivering exceptional service and building strong, long-term relationships with a diverse portfolio of SME and individual clients.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their friendly and collaborative team. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Practice Manager and working closely with Accountants and clients, your responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across various industries
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
  • Bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Payroll processing, including STP, superannuation, and payroll tax
  • BAS, IAS, and GST preparation and lodgement
  • Maintaining and managing client financial records
  • Assisting with month-end reporting and preparation of management reports
  • Liaising directly with clients regarding bookkeeping and payroll queries
  • Supporting accountants with year-end preparation and compliance requirements
  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and legislation

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Previous bookkeeping experience within an Accounting firm or professional services environment
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll, BAS, GST, and superannuation requirements
  • Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero or MYOB - Essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and client relationship management abilities
  • Ability to work autonomously while also contributing positively to a team environment
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping and Accounting or similar qualification preferred
