Mars Recruitment is partnering with a leading asset management business to recruit a Manager for their Sydney-based Investment Operations team. This role involves managing a small team while supporting the processing of derivatives trades across futures, options, swaps, and other structured products, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

The successful individual will bring people management experience, along with expertise in trade operations, regulatory transaction reporting, and derivatives processing. This role involves close collaboration with the trading desk and operational teams, providing exposure to complex financial instruments and opportunities to contribute to ongoing projects and process transitions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the process of trade confirmation, settlement, reconciliations, and collateral management for derivatives instruments
• Assisting with regulatory reporting and ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements
• Collaborating with portfolio managers, traders, risk, and technology teams to ensure operational efficiency
• Identifying process improvement opportunities and supporting enhancements to operational workflows
• Resolving operational issues and ensuring timely and accurate processing in a fast-paced environment
• Maintaining strong controls and adherence to risk management frameworks

About You

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in investment operations, middle-office, or financial services roles, ideally with exposure to derivatives
• Technical knowledge of derivative instruments (futures, options, swaps) and their operational lifecycle events
• Understanding of clearing, margining (VM/IM), and regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., ASIC, EMIR, MiFID II)
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with platforms such as AcadiaSoft, Aladdin, MarkitWire, ICE Link, TradeServ, or DTCC GTR is highly regarded
