Tax Manager | Financial Services

Tax Manager role within a large, listed financial services organisation, focusing on corporate tax compliance, reporting and process improvement.

MARS are proudly working with a large, ASX-listed financial services organisation that's seeking a Tax Manager to join their Group Tax function in Sydney. This role sits within a specialist tax team responsible for managing the organisation's tax affairs, ensuring compliance across corporate entities, and supporting high-quality tax reporting and governance.

This is a strong opportunity for a technically capable tax professional who enjoys working across corporate tax compliance, reporting, and process improvement, while partnering closely with finance and business stakeholders across a large and complex organisation.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Tax Manager, the successful candidate will support the Group Tax team in delivering all tax compliance obligations, with a particular focus on corporate income tax reporting across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and supporting the delivery of corporate income tax returns, FBT returns and related tax reporting
  • Preparing and maintaining tax provisions and tax effect accounting within the general ledger
  • Calculating monthly PAYG instalments and supporting ongoing compliance obligations
  • Assisting with transfer pricing, Pillar Two, controlled foreign company (CFC) and withholding tax matters relating to cross-border transactions
  • Supporting internal stakeholders with technical tax queries and reporting requirements
  • Working closely with Financial Control, Statutory Reporting, Treasury, and external advisors
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements across tax compliance and reporting processes
  • Monitoring and assessing the impact of legislative tax changes across relevant jurisdictions

About You

  • CA or CPA qualified with 5+ years tax experience from a large financial services company or a Big 4 / Mid-Tier Accounting Firm
  • Strong knowledge of Australian corporate tax and tax effect accounting
  • Experience preparing corporate tax returns and tax provisions
  • Exposure to cross-border tax issues such as transfer pricing or withholding tax is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage with stakeholders across finance and the wider business
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience using finance or tax systems such as PeopleSoft or CCH Integrator advantageous
