Our client is a fast-growing Financial Services organisation experiencing significant expansion and transformation. With a strong focus on excellence, innovation and client service, they are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their high-performing Finance team in Melbourne's CBD.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements. This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic, growth-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Statutory Reporting

  • Complete monthly accounting transactions, reconciliations, and month-end tasks on time.

  • Maintain an accurate and reliable general ledger.

  • Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements.

  • Act as the main contact for external auditors and manage audit requirements.

  • Prepare and submit APRA returns, BAS, payroll tax, FBT, and other compliance reporting within required deadlines.

Management Reporting

  • Support the preparation of monthly and end-of-period reports for Executives and the Board.

  • Analyse financial performance, key KPIs, and variances to budget/forecast.

  • Provide accurate, timely insights to support decision-making.

Finance Partnering

  • Partner with stakeholders to support financial performance and delivery of targets.

  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting cycles.

  • Develop and maintain financial models, ensuring accurate assumptions and business inputs.

  • Ensure budgets and forecasts are accurately reflected in financial systems.

Treasury Management

  • Monitor compliance with the organisation's investment policy.

  • Assist with weekly and quarterly liquidity and investment reporting.

  • Support effective cash flow and investment management.

Process Improvement & Leadership

  • Identify and implement improvements across financial and management accounting processes.

  • Lead or support automation and reporting enhancement initiatives.

  • Drive efficiency across financial operations.

  • Coach and mentor junior team members.


Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

  • CA/CPA qualified (or near completion).

  • 4-6+ years' experience in accounting roles, ideally within Financial Services or complex commercial environments.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in statutory reporting.

  • Highly proficient in Excel and experience with modern financial systems/ERPs.

  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and growing organisation.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

AU$140000 - AU$150000 per annum
